跳到0分13秒The need for healthcare improvement has arisen from the concerns of policymakers, clinicians, and managers around the world. Preventable hospital errors are now the third largest cause of death in the United States, and also there are major variations in our own National Health Service in the treatment of things like cancer and dementia, depending on where you live. Healthcare improvement, essentially, is the science of how we continuously improve the quality of our health services to ensure that they are safer, more patient led, and more efficient. We’ll look at the tools and techniques. We will also look at the implementation side of that, bringing in ideas from organisational theory from leadership, from management to try and understand those processes.

And this course will have contributors from across the spectrum of management and medical research. You will also be hearing from well-known practitioners and experts. For example John Øvretveit from the Karolinska Institute in Scandinavia. And also from Lynne Maher the leading innovator in health improvement, previously working for the NHS in England. This course will be structured across six weeks.
